Most of the time it is the ordinariness of everyday life that is extraordinary in its moments of seeming plainness. I am interested in showing the side of our reality that goes by often unseen and unrecorded in our consciousness. This can serve as a reminder of how important and precious the predictability of everyday life is; only when it is disrupted or taken away from us do we become aware of its value.
I believe that photographs are a record of life and the events that surround it. Their task is not simply to present life, but to draw the viewer into another world of experience, and to allow the viewer to explore and find their own response to this world. My photo world is also the world of my camera, the world it sees through its own “eye”, a world of intricate and minute detail and a world of sweeping landscapes, an ugly world, a beautiful world. - VB
